I pretty much did nothing today except recover from the Florence trip. I downloaded some books I haven't read off of the Internet and read them. All in all, a very lazy day. I did update my budget, and saw that after all of the money I spent on Christmas I still have $800 left, after Kendall, Mom, and Dad pay me what they owe me. That is not bad with only 4 weeks left. That gives me $200 a week. I also went to the store to buy some food to make dinner. I found a recipe for some pasta: Olive Oil, Garlic, and Crushed Red Pepper Pasta Sauce
Directions:
Then I just bought some chicken, cooked it in Olive Oil with salt and basil, and combined them. So I made my own chicken fettuccine. It was really good! I accidentally stole Laura's keys when I left for the store. So when she left for the library she had no keys to come back. I felt so bad! So after I ate I went by Old Bridge and bought her a frappe, which is like a milkshake but much more watery. Then I took it to her at the library. She was happy to see me and said she wasn't mad about the keys at all. She was having a bad day because her cat had died.

After all of the strikes this weekend, I just decided to stay at my apartment and relax for a day. I really enjoyed myself, and gave myself a break from all of this crazy traveling. Olivia has been having a bad week. She found out that her best friend's mom has cancer again, and will be undergoing surgery. She is like a second mom to Olivia. Olivia's dad is paying for her to fly back to the U.S. be with her friend and her mom. So she is going to leave on Tuesday, and come back next Monday. Olivia is also getting sick and has been coughing a lot. We were talking and she was saying that she had no food because she just came back from Munich and she doesn't want to buy anything because she doesn't want it to go bad while she is gone. I decided to make her French Toast so that she could feel better. While I was making it, Laura came in. She has been having boyfriend troubles with her boyfriend back in the U.S. and was also having a bad morning, so I made her some as well. I made the French Toast, Olivia made some tea, and we all talked for a couple of hours. We talked about troubles back home and future travel plans. I am traveling to Warsaw, Poland this weekend. Next weekend I am planning on going to Budapest. Laura also really wanted to go to Budapest but she didn't have anyone to go with, so we are going to travel together. So I finally have a travel buddy for one weekend, that should make everyone back home happy. After Budapest I am traveling to Florence with API. I was researching Florence and I found that it has an escape room. In an escape room you are locked in for 1 hour and you have to solve the clues to find the key and escape. I have wanted to try this since I came to Europe, but none of them allow only 1 person, I had to be in a group of 2-6 people. Laura thought that it sounded awesome, so she is willing to do it with me while we are all in Florence. We will ask our other roommate Janelle and her boyfriend Mike, and then some other people in API if they want to join. So I am really excited about that! After Florence I have a weekend off because of my Art History make up day, so I will probably travel to Tivoli and Ostia Antica, which are close to Rome. The week after that is Thanksgiving and I will be going to Romania. Then it is the weekend before finals so I won't be traveling, and then we go home. So sad :(. I have bought my plane ticket to Warsaw and booked my room in a hostel, so that is all ready. I also looked up free tours. There is a company that offers free tours and they are a lot of fun. The tour guide has to be really good because they work off of tips. They have 4 tours going on in Warsaw, so I am going to attend them all. They have tours of Old Warsaw, Communist Warsaw, Jewish Warsaw, and Alternative Warsaw. Now all I have to look up is things to do in Warsaw that are not covered by the tours, and plan my route. At 2 I walked to the Guarini Campus and met some people in Finance group for a study session. We worked through a couple of problems, and then I left to go back to the apartment. It was only 5pm, and it was already starting to get dark. Olivia noticed that the time went back an hour today. It freaked her out originally because she looked at the clock, and then looked a couple of minutes later and she had lost an hour. I met Olivia at the apartment and we went to the store together. She bought some chicken so she has something to eat for today and tomorrow, and I bought the last ingredients that I needed for my meat sauce. My recipe for meat sauce is the most complicated recipe that I have attempted so far. It took me 2 hours to make. I had to chop up an onion, and cook it with some ground meat. Then I had to chop up a green pepper (which I have never done before, I had to google how to do it) and add it to the pan with stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, rosemary, thyme, and some other seasonings. Then I had to let it simmer for an hour and half, occasionally stirring it. When it was almost done I had to cook the pasta. It is the best thing that I have made so far! I love it, but I probably won't make it often because it takes too long. I was able to finish a big chunk of my homework while it was simmering.
I got to sleep in today because I had no classes. I figured out my schedule for next semester at TWU, and took my time. At 2:30 pm, I finally got to meet with my Marketing group. Our project is due Tuesday, so we have less than a week to complete it. I showed up early, everyone else showed up late, so I had to wait on them for a little while. Then we found an emptily classroom and went in there to work. There are 5 tasks that needed to get done for the project, so we divided them up. I have to research the Positioning of United Airlines Economy class. Then the group spent 2 hours researching their parts. We have a Google doc for powerpoint slides, so we just added our slides to there. I am almost done with my part, I just have a little bit more to do and I am done. After the group meeting I went to the library to study for Marketing by reading the textbook. It is a huge textbook! I ended up just skimming the pages. Then I went back to the apartment to cook dinner. I made Pasta & Potato Neapolitano. It is just pasta, with potatoes, onion, and cherry tomatoes. It is not bad. I should have cooked the potatoes first, because they weren't cooked all the way through. My pan wasn't big enough for all of the ingredients and they kept going over the sides. After I ate I had to prepare for my projects due tomorrow. I had a short essay due for Art History, which I completed. I also completed most of my project that is due for International Business today, all I have left to do is edit it. Then I went to bed.
I finished my Intermediate Accounting report today. All I have to do tomorrow is proofread and submit it. It is 14 pages, but I emailed the teacher and she said that was okay (the limit was 8-10). I also did my discussion board for that class, so all I have left is to respond to one other person's post on Monday. Then I am done with that class forever!
I also bought my airline ticket to Bratislava. For some reason it wouldn't let me use my Randolph card, so I had to call SSFCU and renew my card for another 30 days, and then buy the ticket with SSFCU. It cost me $160 roundtrip. I also learned how to make a baked potato in the oven. It is a lot more complicated than the microwave. I had to wash the potato, poke it with a fork, then rub it with olive oil and add salt on it. Then I had to put it in the oven for 45 minutes, and turn it after 20 minutes. I heated up my left-over lemon chicken sauté and had it with my potato. While I waited for my potato to bake I did my arts project for Art History. Our task was to make a manuscript the actual size of our assigned manuscript. Our teacher gave us paper to use, but I left mine somewhere. Oops! I of course didn't bring a ruler, so I pulled up an online ruler and measured my sheet of notebook paper with that. I also didn't have scissors, so I just folded the edges. Then I was bored so I decorated my manuscript. Today was supposed to be the day for me to travel to Verona, but I have to finish my Intermediate Accounting report. I cooked another meal today: Lemon Chicken Saute. It was really good. I also learned some new things about cooking. When I made my lemon tuna pasta a couple of weeks ago, I zested a lemon. I didn't want to waste the lemon juice so I kept it. Who knew that lemons without a skin would decompose? Not me. So I had to throw away my decomposed lemon, but I had several more. I got out all of my ingredients for this recipe, and started out by frying my chicken in butter and olive oil. While it was frying I was zesting another lemon. In the process I managed to zest my thumb. It started bleeding, so then I was trying to cook while making sure not to get blood in my food. It was very difficult. I kept having to stop and wash my thumb off in the sink. I hope the sink water is clean, because I don't have a band-aid or disinfectant. Ah well.
I also decided to throw out my remaining lemons, because they were starting to go bad. I didn't want to waste them so I decided to make lemonade. The only problem is that none of my roommates have bought sugar I could borrow, so it was very acidic. I ended up pouring it down the drain. So much for lemonade.
Today is my day off, or in other words the day I do homework. I got through another chapter of Intermediate Accounting, which took me most of the day. Olivia had come back from London and she had an interesting trip, much like my trip to Oslo. While in Rome she tripped on a cobblestone and now her ankle is all swollen. There is nowhere in Europe you can buy ice, so she has been buying cold water bottles to put on her ankle. It also didn't help that she walked all over London on her ankle. And her hostel didn't have running water, so she wasn't able to take a shower for 3 days. She was visiting her friend who is studying in London, but her friend's roommate didn't want her in the apartment at all, not even to take a shower. On the way back from London her flight kept getting delayed. Her taxi driver to Rome was drunk, but at that point she didn't care. She got back to the apartment around 2 a.m., but I was asleep so I didn't hear her. She told me the whole story when she woke up. Then she had to go to class, so she walked on her ankle even more. We don't have ice in the apartment, but we don't have ice trays. To drink cold water I usually put some water bottles in the refrigerator. While Liv was at class I put one of my bottles in the freezer, so I could make ice. It was her surprise when she got back from class. She was really excited. I also went to the grocery store again today. Last week I looked up some Italian recipes and I decided that I was going to (try to) cook one today. I only needed a couple of things from the store and I was able to find them pretty quickly. Then I got back to the apartment and started cooking. I made Lemony Tuna and Olive Oil Pasta. It was pretty simple to make. All I had to do was boil some water, add the linguine, and wait for it to soften. Then I chopped up some garlic (first time I have done it), added some olive oil and crushed red peppers and put that on the stove for a couple of minutes. Then I added that mixture to the pasta, added some tuna, some lemon zest, and basil leaves. And I was done! It actually tasted really good. I was quite proud of myself. The kitchen was a mess, but I had cooked a meal! I even have a lot left over for the rest of the week!
